(FBD), headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, was incorporated in 1967, and over the past 40 years has become an industry leader in providing innovative solutions to complex employee benefit and human resources related issues. In December 2000, National Financial Partners (NFP) acquired FBD. NFP is a billion dollar plus company listed on the NYSE with headquarters located in New York City. FBD still maintains autonomy in managing the daily activities of the firm through FBD Consulting Management Company, which is wholly owned by Michael Juffa, the President and CEO of FBD Consulting. Under this arrangement, FBD shares all of the assets of a publicly traded company and at the same time has the ability to apply all management decisions at the local level. Michael R. Juffa, President and CEO In addition to oversight management duties, Mr. Juffa consults with many of the firm's larger clients in the areas of Pension planning and Health and Welfare consulting and Administrative Services. Prior to joining FBD Consulting, Inc. in 1984, he was a Group and Pension Manager with Union Mutual Insurance Company (UMUM) since 1976. Mike received his B.A. degree from Westminster College in 1974. He received his Chartered Life Underwriters degree from the American College in 1980. Mike has been a speaker at state, national and international meetings, including discussions on Pensions, Health and Welfare Plans and Flexible Benefit Planning. He is a member of the American Society of Pension Actuaries (ASPA). Mike sits on The Board of Carr and Associates, a Kansas City based Industrial Psychology consulting firm. Mike holds licenses with the NASD through NFP Securities, Inc.

John H. Cain, Senior Vice President - Compliance Services Mr. Cain has been with FBD since 1985, specializing in ERISA compliance and employee benefit plan issues. John manages FBD's Compliance Services Department and has overseen the implementation of a variety of benefit programs and has provided valuable expertise to clients in this area. In addition, John manages FBD's Retirement Plan Services Department which provides consulting and administrative services for corporate and governmental retirement plans. These plans include pension, profit sharing, 401(k), 457, 403(b) and non-qualified deferred compensation plans. John's department utilizes the most current and automated administration system to provide administrative and compliance testing services to hundreds of qualified and non-qualified plans to FBD's clients. John received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas and subsequently received his Juris Doctorate degree from Nova University Law School in Florida.

Michelle L. Dortch, HIA, RHU, REBC, Senior Vice President - Group Benefits Michelle has over 24 years of experience in the area of group benefits. She initially worked for several consulting companies in the area, including the largest in Nebraska and after several years Michelle started her own consulting company. After she sold her company to a large national firm, Michelle relocated to Kansas City in 1998 and is currently the Senior Vice President of Group Benefits for FBD Consulting, Inc. Michelle has a strong underwriting background enabling her to offer creative solutions in today’s challenging health and welfare environment. With experience in all aspects of group benefit plan design, she has spent the majority of her career consulting with mid to large size employers, with an expertise in multi-site business. Michelle has received the designations of Health Insurance Associate (HIA), Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), and Registered Employee Benefit Consultant (REBC). She is an active member of the Employee Benefit Professionals Association, the National Association of Health Underwriters, National Association of Female Executives and Corporate Exchange. Michelle has served on several insurance related boards and is the past president of the Kansas and Nebraska Association of Health Underwriters.

Julie R. McKee, J.D., Senior Vice President and General Counsel Ms. McKee brings with her 15 years of legal experience with the law firm of Stinson Morrison & Hecker, LLP. As the Director of the law firm’s Human Resources Consulting Group, Julie initiated the firm’s utilization of a wide array of pro-active human resources services for its clients and served as the firm’s legal advisor on internal HR matters. At FBD Consulting, Julie continues to advise clients on a wide array of human resources matters. Julie’s legal background provides a unique perspective to aid clients on preventive measures for minimizing employment-related risks. Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Kansas. She received her Juris Doctorate Degree from the Washburn University School of Law and graduated with honors. Julie is a member of the American Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. Julie actively serves on the Heartland Labor and Employment Law Institute Committee. In addition, Julie is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). Julie is also a member of the Central Exchange and the Centurions Alumni Association of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.

Lori D. Tritz, SPHR, Vice President - Human Resources ConsultingLori is a Senior Human Resources Professional experienced in both team and individual environments. Lori has over 14 years of proven performance and demonstrated success relating to diverse groups and management levels. Her results–oriented style is achieved through leadership, innovative strategies, and dedication to organizational objectives. Lori has a high level of experience in the areas of Employee Relations, Recruiting, Leadership/Management Development, Performance Management, and Policy Development. She has maintained her SPHR certification since 2002 and is also a Certified Clever Trainer (DISC). She maintains Professional Affiliations with the Society for Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Association, Employment Practices Network, National Association of Colleges and Employers, and Employment Management Association. Lori holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with a minor in Management from the University of Central Missouri.

Julie B. Davis, CCP, Vice President - Compensation Consulting Julie leads the compensation practice and provides compensation consulting services to clients. She has over 30 years of experience in human resources including over 20 years in consulting, designing, administering, funding and communicating employee benefit and compensation plans. She has broad experience advising clients on aligning human resource programs to organizational strategy including:
Julie holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. She also has earned her Certified Compensation Professional designation from World at Work and serves on the compensation and benefits certification faculty. Julie is a founding member of the Kansas City Compensation and Benefits Association (est. 1991). Julie currently serves on the KCCBA Board and has served as President for four years and a Board member for eleven years. She is licensed in life and health and is a member of the Employee Benefits Professionals Association.

Michael N. Bettis, ASA, Vice President Mr. Bettis manages FBD's Defined Benefit Department. Mike graduated magna cum laude from Sterling College with a B.S. degree in Mathematics. He has over 15 years of pension actuarial experience. Prior to joining FBD Consulting, Inc., he was employed by Mercer Human Resource Consulting and KPMG. Mike is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.
